Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Although Brad Pitt’s fine performance as the remarkable Bejamin Button is often overshadowed by the film’s astonishing CGI effects, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, is a fine example of great movie storytelling. Adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards, the sweeping saga, mostly set in New Orleans, spans time from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following a journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be.

Pitt stars, along with the exquisite Cate Blanchette as his once and future love, Daisy, and while both performances are utterly captivating, they are rivaled by Claudio Miranda’s golden-hued cinematography, Eric Barba’s seamless visual effects and animation, Eric Roth’s (“Forest Gump”) screenplay and David Fincher’s (“Fight Club”) direction. “Button” runs a long 2 hours and 47 minutes, but is well worth every moment you’ll spend in the theater. (Rated: PG-13 for brief war violence, sexual content, language and smoking.)
