Terminator Salvation
Christian Bale stars as John Connor, leader of the human resistance against the machines, in this bloated return of the hit sci-fi action franchise.
Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Connor, is fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington,) a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
Confused? No matter. So were the screenwriters.
The film also stars Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek”) as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and, the only actor worthy of screen time, young Jadagrace as Star.
In case you are wondering, Christian Bale’s infamous rant/meltdown happened on the set of this movie. If ever there was a time for him to show a little humility, this would have been it. Hey Christian, that thud you hear is your career going offtrack. The only mystery worth uncovering here is why studio honchos thought making Terminator Salvation was a good idea.
